Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is a branch of preventive and rehabilitative healthcare. Physical therapists go through extensive schooling and training and are licensed health professionals. They use different techniques to help patients alleviate pain, recover from injury/surgery, and improve their overall physical abilities. Some of these techniques are exercises, stretches, hands-on treatment, as well as development and education on what is called a home exercise program (HEP). This is for the patient to continue making progress and gains out of the clinic, as this is where most of their time will be spent.

Health & Wellness
This is an informal assessment for times when there are areas in your daily life that may need addressing, but not to the level where a visit to the doctor seems warranted. We will talk and figure out what the best plan would be, and develop a treatment and home program from there. This will be achieved by incorporating orthopedic exercise prescription, manual physical therapy techniques, and education for minor aches and pains, to optimize mobility and flexibility, musculoskeletal health, balance, and to promote general health and wellness. {This is NOT an insurance reimbursable visit}

Stretching
Stretching Sessions involve a trained professional helping you stretch your muscles and joints. The goal is to improve flexibility, mobility, and overall well-being. Stretching can help lengthen muscles and improve range of motion in joints, reduced muscle tension, improve athletic performance and prevent injuries and improve overall posture and balance. {This is NOT an insurance reimbursable visit}

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) is a skilled treatment for myofascial restriction. IASTM uses specially designed instruments to provide a mobilizing effect to scar tissue and myofascial adhesions. It can be used for the detection and treatment of soft tissue disorders. By using the instruments, it introduces controlled microtrauma to the affected soft tissue, stimulating a local inflammatory response. Adhesions can form in the soft tissue as a result of surgery, repeated strain and injury as well as immobilization. The microtrauma created by IASTM initiates a cascade of healing and remodeling of these adhesions and affected soft tissue, by breaking them down and allowing full functional restoration to take place. {This is NOT an insurance reimbursable visit}

Myofascial Release Therapy
A safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. Myofascial release is a type of physical therapy often used to treat myofascial pain syndrome and fascial restrictions. Myofascial pain syndrome is a chronic pain disorder caused by sensitivity and tightness in your myofascial tissues. Fascia is a thin, web-like sheet of connective tissue that surrounds and supports every structure in the body, including muscles, bones, organs, blood vessels, nerves, tendons, and ligaments. These tissues surround and support the muscles throughout your body. The pain usually originates from specific points within your fascial tissues called “trigger points.”
Your therapist, who is J.F. Barnes Myofascial Released trained, will gently work the fascia and feel for stiff or tightened areas, stretching the areas that feel rigid with light manual pressure. The therapist then aids the tissue and supportive sheath in releasing pressure and tightness. The process is repeated multiple times on the same trigger point and on other trigger points until the therapist feels the tension is fully released.
